"I always liked the ocean but I wan't sure if I wanted to go into a career with the ocean, and now this will show me a little bit of what it's going to be like.  It's going to help me pick what I'm going to be when I'm older."

Favorite animal: Dolphin
Favorite school subject: Science
Most excited about: "...being on a boat for the first time, and learning how to swim confidently."

I grew up mainly in Thornton, Colorado, with occasional moving in and out the state. My childhood was interesting since my parents got a divorce and I felt as if I had to mature sooner then most kids since I felt the need to be there for my sister.

What I really like about school is the sports and the subjects.  I love science and math.  And the sports I do are track and cross country.

What made me apply for the scholarship was my post secondary coach. She thought that this would be a crazy once-in-a-life time opportunity so I saw what it was about and I said why not.  Plus I had always thought the ocean was so beautiful and to have an opportunity to see it would be amazing.

I hope that by the end of the semester I can swim more confidently and to be able to tell me people, “yep, I got a scuba certification."

"I've never been snorkeling or anything like that so... I'm guess I'm just expecting the unexpected."

Favorite animal: Turtle
Favorite school subject: Science
Most excited about: "...scuba diving of course, being deep in the water, and going on a plane for the first time."

I've had the privilege of visiting the ocean several times and each experience has been absolutely wonderful. I am looking forward to visiting again in the summer with a group of new friends!
Growing up in a large family, I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to visit the ocean. Each experience in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf has been absolutely wonderful. I am looking forward to visiting again in the summer with a group of new friends!
My younger brother has always been the one interested in marine life, but recently I think that's rubbed off on me. Taking biology science courses at school have made me realize just how much I Iove the study of life. I want to expand my horizons and possibly explore a future in marine biology, and I think this Scuba Diving Certification program is the best way to begin. I am excited to become Scuba Diving Certified with Ocean First and to connect with the sea in a way that's never been possible for me before. Besides the diving piece, I think the program will help me understand other factors of the sea, such as the truth behind sharks.
In my spare time, I enjoy photography. In fact, I worked all of last summer to buy myself my first professional camera. I hope to incorporate photography when I visit the sea by not only taking pictures above the water, but dozens of feet below sea level too!
Overall, I am psyched to be a part of the A Rising Tide Production in the trip to Florida! I cannot wait to see what will happen and I'm ready for anything.

More to come
